For CMC management, the Talbot Lago Coupé has been a long-held and deeply cherished dream. In the early years, this demanding vehicle was still somewhat ambitious to meet the high model standards of this century. From today’s perspective, after over twenty years of experience in modeling classic cars, we were ready to recreate this dream vehicle with unmatched elegance and the aesthetics of the “Teardrop” body by French master coachbuilder Figoni & Falaschi as a world-class, high-end model.

When CMC decided to recreate the Talbot Lago Coupé with the “Teardrop” body as a model, our designers’ pulse quickened, and the joy of recreating such a work of art was immense. But at the same time, it was also a challenge and a duty to do justice to this demanding project. Many experts worldwide agree that this vehicle can no longer be classified according to the standards applicable to cars. The Talbot Lago, with its bodywork crafted by the renowned French coachbuilder Figoni & Falaschi, looks like it’s from another planet. The car is simply what today could be called “most modern.”

When Talbot first presented the Coupé at the Paris Motor Show in 1937, guests were impressed. This quickly led to the terms “goutte d'eau” (water drop) and “teardrop-shaped coupé,” never officially used but fitting for its extraordinary shape. Everything about this fascinating vehicle and every detail reflects a deep passion for design and matching accessories. Every line and rail enhances the effect without being intrusive. This car is a harmonious unit—from the narrow front fender to the chrome exhaust tip. It also features a luxurious interior with artistic craftsmanship in noble wood and elegant leather.

The six-cylinder inline engine runs silkily under the hood of the Coupé, producing 140 or 160 HP depending on the model. The powerful torque guarantees energetic driving and good acceleration figures. Only 16 of these cars—each differing by subtle or more noticeable details—were built between 1937 and 1939. Only about a quarter of these impressive vehicles are still known today as witnesses to a bygone era when form was still a priority.

Every single element is carefully assembled by hand. Instruments on the dashboard are mounted separately. The seats are covered with fabric or leather. The floor lining is laid inside and in the trunk. The replicas replicate even the smallest details according to the original plans of the vehicle.
