Description

The highly successful decade of Jaguar began in 1949 with the introduction of its magnificent sports car, the XK 120. Based on this, the C-Type was developed in 1951 for motorsport racing. It was completely redesigned, except for the optimized XK 120 engine. The Jaguar C-Type won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice. In total, only 53 units of the C-Type were built in Coventry, including four on a lightweight chassis.

The Jaguar C-Type has a proud racing history and also initiated an impressive motorsport program launched by Jaguar Cars Ltd. The XKC or C-Type originated from ideas that emerged in William Lyons, even before he was knighted, and his chief designer William Heynes in late summer 1950. Both aimed to add racing prestige to the Jaguar brand, gaining international recognition for its racing potential at Le Mans in 1951. And the action moved quickly!

While the drivetrain of the new C-Type was built on the proven XK120 engine, the old solid but heavy chassis was replaced with a very lightweight tubular frame. Three variants of the C-Type were produced. The first consisted of three "pre-production" cars that raced at Le Mans in 1951. Equipped with drum brakes, two SU carburettors, and an eye-catching air intake on the bonnet, only one of them finished the race, but it won its first attempt at Le Mans! The second version was the production cars built from 1952 onwards – from chassis number XKC005 to XKC049 – also with drum brakes and SU carburettors, except for the slanted air intakes.

The last version of the C-Type was the factory racing cars built in 1953, which differed in many ways from the previous XKC models. The engine was fitted with three Weber 40DCO3 twin-choke carburettors, the body was made from very thin alloy sheet, and a rubber fuel tank in an aviation style was installed. For the first time, Dunlop disc brakes and a brake booster were used. To improve road grip, the rear axle was reinforced, and the front was fitted with a reinforced stabilizer. These innovative efforts paid off. On June 14, 1953, Jaguar's boys did their job at Le Mans: their C-types defeated the rivals, taking first, second, and fourth places.

Building on this legendary racing car, CMC introduced a special edition in 2020 in a noble gold shade, with only 300 available in Europe.

Information about Classic Model Cars (CMC)

Exclusive products combined with the highest quality finish make us synonymous with the German brand Classic Model Cars. This is a true homage to handcrafted products that impress with their unique elegance and luxury.

CMC is one of the leading companies manufacturing miniature vintage cars. The company creates classic and collector’s models using authentic materials and fabrics.

Since 1995, CMC has had its own manufacturing plant with highly qualified engineers and staff in China. The result of months of research is a variety of classic car models, assembled by hand from over 1800 individual parts. The brand uses high-quality materials to fully preserve the “faithfulness to the original” of each car model.

The company focuses on all major and popular collector scales: 1:12, 1:18, 1:24, 1:43. The first model produced by the company was in 1:24 scale – the iconic Mercedes-Benz SSK from 1930. It was built in 1995 and received many prestigious awards.

Each element is carefully assembled by hand. Instruments on the dashboard are mounted separately. The seats are covered with fabric or leather. The floor lining is installed inside and in the trunk. The replicas faithfully reproduce the smallest details according to the original plans of the vehicle.
