Description

Silver Srebrny breastplate from Czechoslovakia, dated 1928, circa 1928. High-quality embossed and carved silver sheet in shield shape, featuring two side scrolls starting from an oval cartouche with Jewish inscriptions, above which is a horizontal groove accessible from the back by sliding the sheet. In the center are two magnificent Judas lions with heads turned outward, holding two tables topped with the Star of David. The upper part features rich drapery of a curtain within an arched frame crowned with a non-essential crown attached to the plaque by three nailed thorns.

In the lower left corner of the plaque, there is a mark in an oval field with a pointed tip facing down and a profile of a woman with a covered head, along with the number 3 referring to silverworks titled 800/000 from the years 1922-1929 in Czechoslovakia. To the right, within a square, the initials A P refer to a silver coin.

Luxury antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for decorating our interiors. Today, there is an increasing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage products that possess a distinct character and soul. It is a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the design of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its own distinctive features.

Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few are particularly prominent. Eclectic furniture refers to the 19th century, marked by the popular Biedermeier style. Its early variations include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis-Philippe style, and finally the English Victorian style. By the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

Empire-style furniture dates from the late 18th to early 19th century, originating from Napoleon’s reign. It features significant similarities and references to Roman and Greek ornamentation.

Neoclassical furniture, such as Louis XVI style, also draws heavily from ancient architecture. Noteworthy are antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles. The next is Baroque, derived from the Portuguese word 'barocco'—meaning an irregularly developed pearl. These were highly decorative pieces meant to radiate splendor and play a significant role in luxury. Materials were chosen selectively to emphasize the grandeur of these items.

Today, we can observe how much the Baroque style influenced modern classical furniture, which is often designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. The Renaissance style is also significant, flourishing in the 15th and 16th centuries and leaving a profound mark on furniture-making. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and robust, using brown stains, moldings, strong bases, and reliefs. These products were quite distinctive but also opened new possibilities, such as the construction of credenzas and broadly defined chest furniture. Mythology and ancient themes influenced their design, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.

Lion paws and eagle heads are common motifs in Renaissance style. Currently, many global brands reproduce such furniture, inspired by Italian and French creators. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, giving each style a unique character. This is especially crucial when searching for an exclusive antique that suits your interior.

The key aspect of stylish antique furniture is originality. Ultimately, this matters most to buyers, as many fakes circulate on the market. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the product’s authenticity and compliance with the description and photos. We also have access to art appraisers, historians, and experts from around the world.
