Description
Ancient crystal glass from the late 19th century, decorated in white and gold, originating from Austria-Hungary.
This transparent crystal goblet, from the Czech Republic, features a round foot with a mixed-line edge, shaped and divided into eight panels, topped with a gold ring and a round body divided into eight sections. The delicate and thick decoration in white enamel, with plant motifs, spirals, and fantasy elements, along with a modern line decorating the entire glass, makes it particularly elegant. It is in good condition and dates from the late 19th century.
In excellent condition, this antique collectible crystal goblet is well-preserved, with minimal signs of wear on the gilded edges, consistent with 19th-century dating.
Exquisite antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for interior decoration. Currently, there is a growing appreciation for high-quality vintage items that possess a distinct character and soul. This is a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the design of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its own distinctive features.
Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few are particularly notable. Eclectic furniture refers to the 19th century, marked by the prevailing Biedermeier style. Its early variations include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis Philippe style, and finally the Victorian English style. Toward the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.
Empire-style furniture and accessories date from the period between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. This style originated during Napoleon's reign, heavily influenced by Roman and Greek decorative motifs.
Neoclassical furniture, associated with Louis XVI, also draws heavily from ancient architecture. Noteworthy are antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles. The Baroque style, derived from the Portuguese word 'barocco'—meaning an irregularly developed pearl—features highly ornate furniture designed to radiate splendor and play a significant role in luxury. Materials were selectively chosen to emphasize the grandeur of these pieces.
Today, we can observe how much the Baroque style influenced modern classical furniture, which is often designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. The Renaissance style, flourishing in the 15th and 16th centuries, also left a significant mark on furniture design. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and massive, using brown stains, moldings, sturdy bases, and reliefs. These products were quite distinctive but also introduced new possibilities, such as the construction of credenzas and broadly defined chest furniture. Mythology and ancient themes were also popular, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.
Lion paws and eagle heads are common features in Renaissance-style furniture. Many global brands now recreate such pieces, inspired by Italian and French artisans, as a tribute to the beauty of Renaissance antiques. It is important to remember that furniture styles varied by country, each with its own character. This is especially relevant when searching for an elegant antique piece suitable for your interior.
The key aspect of prestigious antique furniture is originality. Ultimately, this is crucial for buyers, as many forgeries circulate on the market. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the authenticity of each item, matching the description and photographs.
