The times we live in are marked by increased consumption. Therefore, the items we use daily hold no value other than functional for us. Over the years, we often do not show the proper sentiment towards them, replacing them with newer models.
In complete opposition to this situation is the philosophy of Berti Knives, producing exceptional knives for various uses. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, this small manufactory appears to be entirely autonomous from the trends that have dominated the world throughout its history. Its main guiding principle is fidelity to tradition, which is still cultivated by the fourth generation of these Italian artisans.
The owners strongly reject the idea of mass production by unskilled labor, which they believe would lead to a loss of identity in the products. For this reason, their company's philosophy emphasizes the importance of the employed staff. However, this does not mean that this Italian family is closed to innovation. Innovations are highly desirable, provided they do not conflict with the existing vision and can withstand long-term quality tests.
Unlike competitors, the various stages of knife creation are not handled by specialized groups of workers but are often performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The production uses the highest quality materials — blades are made of steel, and handles are made from materials including buffalo horn, bison horn, deer antler, or 'bosso' wood.
The brand owners encourage that, despite being designed for everyday use, their knives should be treated with respect, which guarantees their durability for many years. Each one is a small, unique artifact.
