Malabar’s furniture design originates from Porto, in northern Portugal, a region with a long and strong tradition of handcrafted products.

The company employs the most exclusive types of wood, including: ebony, walnut, American walnut, oak, ironwood, wenge, basswood, olive wood, bird’s eye, burl, poplar, satinwood, and ash.

Malabar also uses ancient lacquer techniques, first applying sheets of copper, gold, silver, pink, or tiger-colored leaf, then sealing with lacquer.

The types of glass used include: dark glass, smoked, gold, antique, and antique brown. The marble varieties are diverse, including: Sahara, Gray Kenzo, Nero Marquina, Portoro, Gris Douro, Black Gold, Guatemala Verde, Tiger’s Eye, Ochiro, Calacatta Vagli, Estremoz, Carrara Gold, Carrara, White Extremez, and Travertine.
