Description
Chandelier made of wrought iron and ostrich egg, a distinctive ten-arm chandelier with a very original composition, truly a unique piece, featuring interesting craftsmanship, also thanks to the use of exceptional materials.
This extraordinary model has a tall central iron stem topped with a floral bud, constructed from iron petals enclosing an ostrich egg inside.
From the top of the iron bulb, ten curved arms descend downward, with double volutes, featuring lights arranged in two staggered rows; each arm is decorated with iron spirals and metal beads lacquered in ivory and lapis lazuli colors. The final element is made of lacquered blue wood — non-original lacquer.
The chandelier dates from the early 20th century, is in perfect condition, restored and re-electrified, making it an ideal piece for rustic interiors.
Beautiful antique furniture and accessories can be excellent ideas for decorating our spaces. Currently, there is a growing appreciation for high-quality vintage items that possess a distinct character and soul. This is a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the design of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its own distinctive features.
Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few are particularly prominent. Eclectic furniture from the 19th century is associated with the beloved Biedermeier style. Its early 20th-century variants include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis-Philippe style, and the English Victorian style. By the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.
Empire-style furniture and accessories date from the late 18th to early 19th century, inspired by the reign of Napoleon, with strong references to Roman and Greek ornamentation.
Neoclassical furniture, associated with Louis XVI, also draws heavily from ancient architecture. Notable and interesting are antique products in Rococo style and Louis XV. The Baroque style, derived from the Portuguese word 'barocco' — meaning irregularly developed pearl — was characterized by very ornate furniture designed to dazzle with splendor and play a significant role in luxury. Materials were chosen selectively to emphasize the grandeur of these pieces.
Today, we can see how much influence the Baroque style has had on modern classic furniture, which often closely resembles the historical period. The Renaissance style is also significant, flourishing in the 15th and 16th centuries and leaving a lasting mark on furniture design. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and robust, using brown stains, moldings, strong bases, and reliefs. These products were quite distinctive but also opened new possibilities, such as the construction of cabinets and broadly speaking, chest furniture. Mythology and ancient times inspired many details, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.
Lion paws, eagle heads — these are common motifs in Renaissance style. Currently, many global brands recreate such furniture, inspired by Italian and French artisans, as a tribute to the beauty of Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, giving each style its unique character. This is especially important when seeking an elegant antique piece suited to your interior.
The key aspect of prestigious antique furniture is originality. This is ultimately crucial for buyers, as many forgeries circulate on the market. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the authenticity of each item, matching the description and photos.
