The times we live in are characterized by increased consumption. Therefore, the items we use daily are deprived of any value other than functional. Each year, we often part with the sentiment they once held, replacing them with newer models.
The philosophy of Berti Knives, a brand that produces exceptional knives for various purposes, differs from this approach. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the small manufactory appears to be entirely autonomous from the trends that have dominated the world throughout its history. Its core principle is fidelity to tradition, which is still cultivated by the fourth generation of experienced artisans.
The founders of the brand strongly oppose the idea of mass production by unskilled labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity of the offered products. Therefore, their operational philosophy places great emphasis on the employed personnel. However, this does not mean that this Italian family is closed to innovations. They are very welcome, provided they do not conflict with the existing philosophy and can withstand years of quality testing.
Unlike competitors, the various stages of knife production are not handled by specialized groups of artisans but are often carried out from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The highest quality materials are used in production — blades are made of steel, while handles are made from, among others, buffalo, bison, or deer horns, or 'bosso' wood.
