Description

Malabar was founded in 2012, alongside the launch of a wide range of decorative Fado guitars and the collection of elegant World Architects furniture. It has designed and released a total of 5 exceptional furniture and accessory series.

Malabar has left its mark at major international trade shows such as 100% Design London, Maison & Objet, Decorex, Stockholm Furniture Fair, and Seoul International. These are among the top venues for showcasing innovative design.

Malabar’s furniture design originates from the Porto region in northern Portugal, an area with a long-standing tradition of handcrafted products.

The identity of this prestigious brand is rooted in the national architectural and artistic heritage of the past five centuries. International experience and a pursuit of perfection are the details that set such original companies apart. Emotions, handcrafted craftsmanship, and space-inspired design create an explosive blend of luxurious furniture. Various techniques using natural wood produce incredible effects, as seen in Malabar’s exceptional collections.

An important aspect of their design is the combination of neutral and black colors. Vivid and bold hues dominate, significantly diverging from classic and stereotypical furniture. Besides wood, the manufacturer uses brass, gold and silver leaf, and other high-quality raw materials. The Portuguese soul is very colorful and fascinating, clearly reflected in the daring furniture designs.

The company’s name derives from Malabar black pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history after the discovery of the Cape. The value of original spices prompted Portuguese merchants to chart a daring sea route. To this day, Malabar defines very individual design boundaries and evokes strong emotions with its projects. They are very liberated, seductive, bold, and extremely luxurious.

What raw materials does Malabar use?

The company employs the most exclusive types of wood, including: ebony, walnut, American walnut, oak, ironwood, elm, basswood, olive wood, bird’s eye, irregular grain, poplar, satinwood, and ash.

Malabar also uses ancient lacquer techniques. First, copper, gold, silver, pink, and tiger-colored leaf are applied, then coated with lacquer.

The types of glass used by the manufacturer include: dark glass, smoked, gold, antique, and antique brown. The marble varieties are diverse and include: Sahara, Gray Kenzo, Nero Marquina, Portoro, Gris Douro, Black Gold, Guatemala Verde, Tiger Skin, Ochre, Calacatta Vagli, Estremoz, Carrara Gold, Carrara, White Extreme, and Travertine.

Specifically: chrome, nickel-plated black brass, polished brass, gilded brass, polished copper, antique brass, silver brass, brushed brass, polished brushed brass, brass, and hammered polished copper.
