In complete opposition to this situation is the philosophy of Berti Knives, a company producing exceptional knives for various purposes. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, this small manufactory appears to be entirely autonomous from the trends that have taken place worldwide over the years. Its most important value is fidelity to tradition, which is still cultivated by the fourth generation of these skilled artisans.
The founders firmly reject the idea of mass production by random labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity of the offered knives. Therefore, their company's philosophy places a special emphasis on the employed staff. However, this does not mean that this Italian family is closed to any changes. Changes are very welcome, provided they introduce elements consistent with the current vision and can withstand many years of quality testing.
Unlike competitors, the various stages of knife manufacturing are not handled by specialized groups of artisans but are often performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The production uses the highest quality materials — blades are made of steel, while handles are made from materials including buffalo horn, bison horn, deer antler, and 'bosso' wood.
The owners encourage that, despite being designed for everyday use, their knives should be treated with proper respect, which guarantees their durability for many years. Each of them is, after all, a small, unique work of art.
