Contrary to this situation, the philosophy of Berti Knives, a manufacturer of exceptional knives for various purposes, stands firm. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, this small workshop appears to be completely autonomous from the trends that have taken place worldwide over the years. Its most important value is fidelity to tradition, which is still cultivated by the fourth generation of these skilled artisans.
The founders firmly reject the idea of mass production by random labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of the identity of their knives. Therefore, their company's philosophy places a special emphasis on the employed staff. This does not mean, however, that this Italian family is closed to any changes. Changes are very welcome, provided they introduce elements consistent with the existing vision and can withstand many years of quality testing.
Unlike competitors, the various stages of knife production are not handled by specialized groups of artisans, but are often carried out from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
High-quality materials are used in production — blades are made of steel, while handles are made from materials including buffalo horn, bison horn, deer antler, and 'bosso' wood.
The brand owners encourage that, although their knives are intended for everyday use, they should be treated with proper respect, which guarantees their durability for many years. Each one is, after all, a small, unique work of art.
