Description

Ancient mountain staff made from the trunk of a branch of an unknown species, characterized by a long and dense fiber with a spiny surface. The handle is formed by the lower part of the shaft, which corresponds to the maximum width and depth dimensions. The tip is original and appears to be made of silver-plated brass. The staff dates from the first half of the 20th century, from northeastern Italy, and is in good condition.

Original antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for decorating our interiors. Today, there is an increasing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage products that possess a specific character and soul. It is a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the creation of traditional and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its distinctive features.

There are many styles characteristic of antique furniture, but we can highlight a few of the most important. Eclectic furniture styles originate from the 19th century, which is when the beloved Biedermeier style was popular. Its early 20th-century variants include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis-Philippe style, and finally the English Victorian style. By the end of the century, these styles transitioned into pseudo-styles of Classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque.

Original Empire-style furniture dates from the period between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. It was influenced by the reign of Napoleon, which imposed a significant resemblance to Roman and Greek decorative motifs.

Neoclassical furniture reflects the Louis XVI style, which also strongly references ancient architecture. Interesting and noteworthy are antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles. Next is Baroque, whose name derives from the Portuguese 'barocco'—meaning an irregularly developed pearl. These were highly representative pieces designed to exude splendor and play a significant role in luxury. Materials were selectively chosen to emphasize the grandeur of these items.

Today, we can observe how much the Baroque style influenced modern classical furniture, which is often designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. An important style is also Renaissance, which flourished in the 15th and 16th centuries and left a significant mark on furniture craftsmanship. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and massive, using brown stains, cornices, sturdy bases, and bas-reliefs. These products were quite distinctive but also opened new possibilities, such as the construction of credenzas and broadly defined chest furniture. During this period, there was also an interest in mythology and antiquity, so supports and legs often took animal forms.

Lion paws, eagle heads—these are common features in Renaissance style. Currently, many global brands reproduce furniture inspired by Italian and French artisans, demonstrating admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It is important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, so each style had its unique character. This is especially important when searching for a luxurious antique that fits your interior.

The most important aspect of stylish antique furniture is originality. Ultimately, this is crucial from the customer's perspective, as many counterfeits circulate on the market. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the product's compliance with its description and photos. We also have experts in art appraisal, historians, and specialists from around the world at your disposal.
