We are delighted to present to you the exceptionally designer boutique Ongaro & Fuga, founded in 1954 by Franco Fuga and his wife Tullia Ongaro. The collaboration of these two highly creative individuals has resulted in a distinctive and fresh perspective on art. They proudly emphasize that Ongaro & Fuga is a centuries-old tradition that revives the magic and incredible Venetian mirrors.
Their talent was inherited by their son Julian, who continues the family traditions. Through collaboration with outstanding artists and designers, he creates a bridge to the future. This is a significant nod to family and multi-generational boutique traditions. Julian believes that every cloud or colorful Italian façade reflecting in the lagoon waters provides vibrant material for new projects. Many of these majestic mirrors are faithful reproductions of historic pieces. Ongaro & Fuga is part of the Consorzio Promovetro di Murano – a very important consortium that is a member of Confartigianato Venezia and Confindustria Venezia. For over twenty years, they have been actively working to strengthen the image of artistic glass to preserve and defend the thousand-year-old Murano glass art. This is an extremely important initiative that does a lot of good for cultural heritage. Ongaro and Fuga are proud of their Promovetro certification for producing their mirrors on Murano.
How is the production process?
This is a truly extraordinary product. Its beauty is reflected in very long work. Crafted with the hands, heart, and soul. For this reason, Ongaro & Fuga’s exquisite mirrors come at a price. The work involved often exceeds 100 hours and can include thousands of decorative elements. This is true luxury and a testament to how strong European family workshops are. For centuries, it has been artisans who drove the evolution of the premium industry, shaping the final appearance of the product with their own hands. Everything begins with a sketch on paper. Then, the glass is gradually shaped to fit the design, using very delicate and smooth diamond grinding stones. Step by step, they refine sharp edges and uneven surfaces. From a brilliant idea, a luxurious harmony that combines tradition with modernity is born! It’s magic—these mirrors, if desired, can become the focal point of your interior.
