The philosophy of Berti Knives, a manufacturer of exclusive knives for various uses, differs from this trend. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family-owned workshop seems completely detached from the trends that have dominated the world over the years. Its core principle is a commitment to tradition, which is still cultivated by the fourth generation of these master craftsmen.
The owners strongly oppose the idea of mass production by random labor forces, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity of the offered knives. Therefore, their company's philosophy places a special emphasis on the employed personnel. This does not mean, however, that this Italian family is closed to any innovations. They are very welcome, provided they bring elements consistent with the existing vision and can withstand years of quality testing.
Unlike others, the various stages of knife production are not handled by specialized groups of artisans, but are often carried out from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The best quality materials are used in production — blades are made of steel, and handles are made, among others, from bison, buffalo, and deer horns, as well as 'bosso' wood.
The owners encourage that their knives, although intended for everyday use, be treated with the proper respect, which guarantees their longevity. Each one is, after all, a small, unique artifact.
