Description
Silver-plated lamp with fan-shaped shade. Embossed only on the front, this late 18th-century lamp features rich decoration consistent with Baroque stylistic features and has been transformed into a versatile table or desk lamp, particularly suitable for wall mounting. The fan-shaped shade allows for interesting light play; through the rear opening, it projects "whiskers" of light onto the wall, creating a stunning decorative effect, and is also adorned with a trim made from a ribbon of hand-strung beads, making it a unique and one-of-a-kind item. It accommodates a large bulb socket (E27) with a maximum power of 100 watts.
Exquisite antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for decorating our interiors. Currently, there is a growing appreciation for high-quality vintage items that possess character and soul. This is a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the creation of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its distinctive features.
Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few are particularly notable. Eclectic furniture belongs to the 19th century, during the reign of the Biedermeier style. Its early 20th-century variants include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis-Philippe style, and finally the English Victorian style. By the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.
Empire-style furniture dates from the late 18th to early 19th century. It originated during Napoleon’s reign, characterized by significant similarities and references to Roman and Greek ornamentation.
Neoclassical furniture reflects the Louis XVI style, which also strongly references ancient architecture. Antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles are also interesting and worth noting. Next is Baroque, a term derived from the Portuguese 'barocco'—which translates to an irregularly developed pearl. These were highly representative pieces designed to exude splendor and play a significant role in luxury. Unique materials were selectively used to emphasize the grandeur of these items.
Today, we can observe how much the Baroque style influenced modern classical furniture, which is often designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. An important style as well is Renaissance, which flourished in the 15th and 16th centuries and left a significant mark on furniture-making art. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and bulky, made with brown stains, moldings, sturdy bases, and reliefs. These products were quite distinctive but also opened new possibilities, such as the construction of cupboards and broadly speaking, chest furniture. Mythology and ancient times also inspired these designs, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.
Lion’s paws, eagle heads—these are common motifs in Renaissance style. Currently, many global brands reproduce furniture inspired by Italian and French artisans. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently across countries, so each style had its unique character in each nation. This is especially important when searching for elegant antiques suitable for your interior.
The key aspect of stylish antique furniture is originality. Ultimately, this is crucial for buyers, as the market is flooded with counterfeits. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the authenticity of each item in accordance with its description and photographs. We also have appraisers, art experts, historians, and specialists from around the world at your disposal.
