A modern dining chair inspired by the principles of perspective - Insidherland

Our perception of space is influenced by Perspective, and its accuracy is a fundamental tool for architects. To depict how objects appear on a flat surface, a technique representing three-dimensional spatial relationships and reducing the projected size of objects with distance is required.

In Italy, Renaissance architect Filippo Brunelleschi rediscovered the principles of perspective after an initial attempt, practiced centuries earlier by Greek and Roman cultures, to define spatial depth. In the 15th century, Brunelleschi observed that, from a fixed single viewpoint, parallel lines seem to converge at a single point in the distance.

The Perspective dining chair is an exercise that combines two and three dimensions in one view. In reality, as if we were looking at its drawn perspective, the lines of the dining chair flex and visually appear to converge, creating an illusion of depth. A deliberate method of transferring a flat drawing image onto an object, rather than vice versa.
