EIDOLA: Weiland Pianist, 1940, is part of a series of 24 drawings created during the final stage of Paul Klee's life. Among them, the Swiss painter depicts the souls of musicians who, having lost their instruments, continue to play on their own bodies. In Pianist, Klee presents only the black keys of the piano, leaving the white keys invisible.
