Fort Street Studio, when creating the Edge and Edge II models, aimed to develop a pattern that would produce a translucent effect – interpenetrating colors gently fade into each other, occupying comfortable positions. The color saturation changes subtly – it’s more like a wave of color gradually shifting in intensity rather than a storm of hue.
The rug is made from wild silk from Dandong, with a weaving density of 120 knots, 15 threads per knot.
The main qualities of the Fort Street Studio brand are noble quality of silk yarns and threads, a unique approach to dyeing, and meticulous color matching. Each rug from this brand is a unique creation, a synergy of functional aesthetics and artistic mastery.
FSS was founded by a brilliant artist couple – Janis Provisor and Brad Davis, who decided to channel their love for art into interior decoration. Their works, before they dedicated themselves to creating the new brand, were exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum, and Albright Knox Gallery.
Thanks to their creativity and exceptional skills, this duo created a company unlike others – basing its designs on original, interesting patterns and the finest materials. For over two decades, Fort Street Studio has been setting new trends in interior design. The brand has showcased its products at fairs in Paris, London, and Milan, and in 2010, it began collaborating with the French department store Hermès.
