Description
Under the influence of Giorgio de Chirico, René Magritte attempted to strip objects of their usual functions and meanings to convey an irrationally attractive image. By distorting scale, weight, and the use of ordinary objects and placing them in various contexts, Malabar designers were inspired to create the La Voix armchair. Upholstered with high-quality cotton velvet featuring a patterned fabric on the curved armrests and supported by a walnut wood leg, Malabar’s artistic heritage lives on in this artistic chair design.
Idealized to be placed at the center of the living room, the La Voix armchair turns fantasies into furniture reality. This classic future-ready chair will help you arrange an art-inspired living space that only needs white walls.
Malabar Manufactory was established in 2012, alongside the launch of a wide range of decorative Fado guitars and the elegant World Architects furniture collection. It has designed and released a total of 5 exceptional furniture and accessory series.
Malabar has left its mark at major international fairs such as 100% Design London, Maison & Objet, Decorex, Stockholm Furniture Fair, and Seoul International. These are among the top venues for showcasing innovative design.
Malabar’s furniture design originates from the Porto region in northern Portugal, an area with a long and strong tradition of handcrafted products.
The identity of this prestigious brand is rooted in the architectural and artistic heritage of the past five centuries. International experience and a pursuit of perfection are the details that set such original companies apart. Emotions, handcrafted techniques, and space-inspired design create an explosive mix of luxurious furniture. Various methods of working with natural wood produce incredible effects, as seen in Malabar’s exceptional collections.
An important aspect of their design is the combination of neutral and black colors. Vivid and bold hues dominate, significantly diverging from classic and stereotypical furniture. Besides wood, the manufacturer uses brass, gold and silver leaf, as well as other high-quality raw materials. The Portuguese soul is very colorful and fascinating, clearly reflected in their daring furniture designs.
The company’s name derives from Malabar black pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history with the discovery of the Cape. The value of original spices prompted Portuguese merchants to chart a bold sea route. This remains true today, as Malabar continues to define highly individual design boundaries and evoke strong emotions with its projects. Their designs are very liberated, seductive, bold, and extremely luxurious.
