This combined edition is limited to 1,000 sets worldwide, and the two-part replicas are available only as a set.

CMC Ferrari D50, (yellow) Belgian GP #20 A. Pilette and CMC Lancia D50 (red) Turin GP #6 Ascari

The Lancia D50 project began in 1954 as an innovative and groundbreaking undertaking. However, adverse circumstances led Lancia to end its Grand Prix ambitions in mid-1955. The D50 project was taken over by Ferrari, and in 1956, the newly refined Ferrari D50 enabled Juan Manuel Fangio to win his fourth World Drivers' Championship.

CMC releases this set of models to showcase the remarkable evolution of the D50. It includes one Lancia D50 with starting number #6, in which Alberto Ascari won the Turin GP in 1955, and one Ferrari D50 with yellow racing livery and starting number #20, in which André Pilette finished sixth at the 1956 Belgian Grand Prix. This combined edition, designated as M-184, is limited to 1,000 sets worldwide.

Ferrari D50:

The 1956 Belgian Grand Prix took place on June 3rd at Circuit de Spa Francorchamps. Ferrari’s lineup included two well-known Belgian racing drivers, Paul Frère and André Pilette, as well as three regulars – Fangio, Castellotti, and Collins. As the race progressed, incidents continually disrupted the field. Stirling Moss initially led in his Maserati 250F, but on the fifth lap, Fangio overtook him and took the lead. After Moss went off track with a loose wheel, Collins moved into second place. Moss managed to continue in a teammate’s car but was one lap behind the leader Fangio. However, Fangio’s car suffered a serious engine problem on lap 23, ending his race. Collins took the lead, which he maintained until the finish. Belgian driver Paul Frère finished second, and Stirling Moss was third. André Pilette finished a respectable sixth in his Ferrari D50 with yellow bodywork #20.

Lancia D50:

The Lancia D50 proved very promising during the Turin GP in 1955 (also known as Gran Premio del Valentino), held on March 27th. The Scuderia Lancia entered Alberto Ascari with a D50 bearing starting number #6. Among other competitors were his teammates Eugenio Castellotti and Luigi Villoresi, as well as rivals from Maserati and Ferrari. The competition was fierce. Starting from pole position, Alberto Ascari delivered an outstanding race and crossed the finish line to secure his first Grand Prix victory for Lancia.
