However, the philosophy of Berti Knives, a producer of exclusive knives for various purposes, differs from this approach. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family workshop seems entirely detached from the trends that have dominated the world over the years. Its most important value is fidelity to tradition, which is now cultivated by the fourth generation of experienced artisans.
The owners strongly oppose the idea of mass production by random labor forces, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity in the products made. Therefore, their company's philosophy places a special emphasis on the employed personnel. This does not mean that this Italian family is closed to any changes. Changes are very welcome, provided they do not conflict with the current vision and can withstand long-term quality tests.
Unlike others, the various stages of knife manufacturing are not handled by specialized sections of workers but are often performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The production uses the highest quality materials — blades are made of steel, and handles are made from materials including buffalo horn, bison horn, deer antler, and 'bosso' wood.
The brand owners encourage that, although their knives are intended for everyday use, they should be treated with proper respect, which guarantees their durability for many years. Each one is, after all, a small, unique artifact.
