The times we live in are marked by increased consumption. Therefore, the everyday items we use lack any value other than functional for us. Over the years, we often do not give them the attention they deserve, replacing them with newer models.
The philosophy of Berti Knives, a manufacturer of exclusive knives for various purposes, is different from this situation. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family workshop seems to be completely detached from the trends that have prevailed worldwide over the years. Its most important value is fidelity to tradition, which is now cultivated by the fourth generation of experienced craftsmen.
The owners strongly oppose the idea of mass production by random labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity of the manufactured products. Therefore, their company's philosophy places a special emphasis on the employed personnel. However, this does not mean that this Italian family is closed to any changes. Changes are very much welcomed, provided they do not conflict with the current vision and can withstand long-term quality tests.
Unlike others, the various stages of knife production are not handled by specialized sections of workers, but are often performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The production uses the highest quality materials — blades are made of steel, and handles are made, among others, from bison, buffalo, deer horns, as well as 'bosso' wood.
The brand owners encourage that, despite being intended for everyday use, their knives should be treated with proper respect, which guarantees their durability for many years. Each of them is, after all, a small, unique artifact.
