Description
Malabar designers have interpreted the famous Dali painting “Metamorphosis of Narcissus” and designed this armchair inspired by surrealism. The plump seat, supported by four handcrafted marble spheres made with specialized markers, is upholstered in trendy bouclé fabric. The Gala armchair was created as a revolution in your art-filled living room. Designed by Malabar, the Gala armchair is part of the Future Classics collection.
Malabar was founded in 2012, with the launch of a wide range of decorative Fado guitars and the elegant World Architects furniture collection. It has designed and released a total of 5 exceptional furniture and accessory series.
Malabar has left its mark at major international fairs such as 100% Design London, Maison & Objet, Decorex, Stockholm Furniture Fair, and Seoul International. These are among the top venues for showcasing innovative design.
Malabar’s furniture design originates from Porto, in northern Portugal, an area with a long and strong tradition of handcrafted products.
The identity of this prestigious brand is rooted in the architectural and artistic heritage of the past five centuries. International experience and a pursuit of perfection are the details that guide such original companies. Emotions, handcrafted craftsmanship, and space-inspired design create an explosive mix of luxurious furniture. Various techniques of working with natural wood produce incredible effects, as seen in Malabar’s exceptional collections.
An important aspect of their design is the combination of neutral and black colors. Vivid and bold hues dominate, significantly diverging from classic and stereotypical furniture. Besides wood, the manufacturer uses brass, gold and silver leaf, and other high-quality raw materials. The Portuguese soul is very colorful and fascinating, clearly reflected in their daring furniture designs.
The company’s name comes from Malabar black pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history with the discovery of the Cape. The value of original spices prompted Portuguese merchants to chart a bold sea route. This remains true today, as Malabar continues to define very individual design boundaries and evokes strong emotions with its projects. Their designs are very liberated, seductive, bold, and extremely luxurious.
