Description
The company INGA is an acronym for "Industria Nazionale Gessi e Affini" and was founded in the early fifties by the Sgambaro family.
It was one of the four Italian manufacturers producing chalk for school blackboards, an indispensable aid in education and entertainment for thousands of children and young people at the time. In addition to blackboard chalk, INGA produced "affini," or other chalk products, such as stuccos, which are packaged and sold in powder or paste form. In the 60s and 70s, INGA also added decorative interior design elements to its blackboard chalk production. In this way, INGA became one of the main producers of original decorative stuccos, such as rosettes, frames, and wall and ceiling cornices. These were very fashionable at the time, ordered and installed in homes as decorative elements.
Over the years, Inga gradually moved away from mass production to dedicate itself exclusively to creating artistic objects that reflect a passion for beauty, culture, and elegance. INGA transformed into a true art laboratory, where unique, refined, and personalized plasters are created for clients from all over the world.

| Additional information | Roman art. The original of this bust was found in Otricola (Umbria) at the end of the 18th century. The work, kept in the Vatican Museums, depicts Jupiter, a Roman deity whose symbols are lightning and thunder. The thick hair, thin beard and prominent frontal bone suggest that the work was inspired by a depiction of the Greek god Zeus. |
