Company History

Both founders, Luciano and Marilena Tellatin, began their careers in pottery at the age of sixteen and decided to start their own business after years working as employees in two different antique factories. In a garage, then a shed, in 1982, the founders began a story that continues to this day. Deep passion and dedication are the elements that drive the founders, supported by young entrepreneurship — their son Alberto. He joined the company in 2000 after earning a teaching degree from the Art Institute of Nove: representing the future of a brand that still has much to offer clients and partners.

Over 30 years of experience, a luxury collection, harmony of forms, respect for work that is primarily craftsmanship and ancient techniques, and ultimately, endless investment in the artisanal heritage of Nove antiques: these are the qualities that make Ceramiche ML exceptionally unique, dynamic, respectful of ancient pottery traditions, yet enthusiastically looking toward the future.

The town where everything takes place is located in the province of Vicenza. This place has been recognized as one of the best examples of Italian ceramic tradition since the sixteenth century: a land enriched with artisanal knowledge, artists, sculptors, and ancient factories known worldwide. The Nove and Bassano regions are full of old companies whose work contributed to building the fame of the ceramics district, decorating furniture in homes around the world.

The history of this place tells of a very long tradition rooted in the 17th century, and its fortune is due to several factors: the presence of underground plastic clay, "lottame" (limestone rich in mineral silica), kaolin, and the ability to use the Brenta River for transporting finished products, wood for firing, and powering water mills. These are used for mixing clay and grinding stones at the riverbed.

Another factor fostering the rise of a prestigious ceramic tradition in this region was the Venetian Senate decree. In fact, in the 17th century, the growing and increasingly widespread demand for fine ceramics in China prompted Dutch ceramists to imitate these works, flooding the Venice market with their products. As a result, in 1728, the Venetian Senate decided to increase domestic production with tax reliefs for those producing porcelain and improving majolica production, thus managing the birth of the ceramics district in Nove.

The production area of the district still focuses on the municipalities of Nove and Bassano, surrounded by a dense network of companies that have contributed to the region's worldwide reputation for excellence and uniqueness, unmatched in other parts of Italy.
