We are pleased to present to you the exclusive pens from the Shavout collection by Urso. Shavout (Hebrew שבועות) – (this sign is engraved on the pen) – the Jewish Feast of Weeks, also known as the Feast of Harvest, Pentecost, or Green Holiday, celebrated on the 6th day of the month of Sivan - in the diaspora also the following day. It commemorates the giving of the Torah to Moses on Mount Sinai and falls seven weeks after the Passover (hence it is called Pentecost). This holiday is also associated with ancient agricultural customs. During the holiday, synagogues are decorated in green. Some orthodox Jews spend the entire night studying the Torah (Tikkun Leil Shavout) to be prepared for its renewed acceptance. Traditional holiday foods include: cheese and milk dishes and special loaves made from new grain.

The clip of this extraordinary pen is a replica of a mezuzah. Mezuzah (Hebrew מזוזה doorpost, doorframe) – in Judaism, a small container with symbolic, historical, and religious value, made of wood, metal, or glass, containing a rolled parchment with two passages from the Torah (Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and Deuteronomy 11:13-21). The parchment is rolled from left to right so that when unrolled, the text can be read from the beginning. On the rolled scroll, letters are written to indicate the top and bottom of the text. Often, the word Shaddai (Hebrew Almighty) is also found. This text also appears in the Shema prayer. Only a sofer is authorized to create the text on the parchment - only then is the mezuzah kosher. Some Jewish factions or emigrant Jews treat the mezuzah as a talisman with a protective function, but it should be emphasized that its purpose is entirely different. The Talmud states that the mezuzah is one of the seven commandments God gave to Israel out of His love for them and should be treated in this way only.

The mezuzah is hung on the doorframes or doorposts of religious Jewish homes at a hand's depth as a literal fulfillment of the commandment given by JHWH. It should be placed at the entrance door, slanted, on the right side, at a height of 2/3. It must be permanently attached, preferably nailed. The inscribed parchments are checked from time to time to ensure they have not been damaged in any way. In homes, this is done twice every seven years, in public places once every fifty years. One can live in a room without a mezuzah for 30 days. Hanging it is preceded by the appropriate blessing.
