Description

Inspired by the work of French Post-Impressionist and Fauvist artists, Scottish colourists (Samuel Peploe, J.D. Fergusson, Leslie Hunter, and FCB Cadell) introduced 1920s Britain to a completely new style of painting. Although they did not consider themselves a collective, they are known for their bold use of colour, energetic brushwork, and love of plein air painting. While each had a distinct style and focus, they united in pioneering efforts to challenge the dominant artistic conventions of their time, creating artworks that pulse with life and beauty. With over 80 paintings and a comprehensive introduction, this is a great addition to the ever-expanding Flame Tree series on art and illustration, Masterpieces of Art.

Unique titles and a wide range of authors are synonymous with Flame Tree Publishing.

“The aim… is to wipe the dust of everyday life from our souls,” Pablo Picasso.
