At the G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit in July 2008, the Japanese government gifted it to all the leaders of the member countries. In December of the same year, the pen was showcased at a special exhibition in the Louvre in Paris, held on the 150th anniversary of Japanese-French trade exchange.
