Description

A part of the Flame Tree series of pocket-sized luxury books. Combining high-quality production with stunning artwork, the covers are printed on foil in five colours, embossed, and then foil-embossed again. They are wonderfully practical: with a back pocket for receipts and scraps, two bookmarks, and a sturdy magnetic side flap. Perfect for personal use, handbags, and make a stunning gift. This example is based on “The Sea at Satta in Suruga Province” by Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858).

Hiroshige was a prolific artist, creating over 5,000 works in his lifetime. Here, he pays homage to The Great Wave off Kanagawa. The turbulent activity of the waves is balanced by the calmness of Mount Fuji, showcasing Hiroshige’s fascination with capturing the sensory moods of landscapes.

Exceptional titles and a very wide range of authors are characteristic of Flame Tree Publishing.

“The aim… is to wipe the dust of everyday life from our souls” – Pablo Picasso.

“Flame Tree Publishing has been dusting off the mundane for over twenty years, creating illustrated books since 1992, art calendars since 1998, and illustrated e-books since 2009. Their extensive list includes powerful and eloquent artists such as Erté and Alphonse Mucha, complemented by extensive licenses in award-winning calendar lines, including Tate, V&A, RSC, RA, and many others.

Thanks to a broad range of authors, editors, and writers—from Vladimir Ashkenazy, Steve Hackett, John Howe, Sir George Martin, Brian May, Paul du Noyer, Paco Peña, Stanley Sadie—the company strives to create illustrated projects that are affordable, useful, and beautiful. In addition to printed titles, their exceptional selection of practical cookbooks, music books, pop culture, and lifestyle titles is increasingly available in digital formats. The publisher believes that well-reviewed, thoughtfully curated content should be available in many different formats to meet their readers’ needs.
