Description

Paul Nash, a British landscape and surrealist painter, lived through both World War I and World War II. His paintings of these human catastrophes, with their destroyed landscapes and ruined machinery, are well-remembered today. His artistic life transitioned from representational landscapes to the surrealist and symbolist styles of his later years, where he experimented with abstraction and everyday life. He was regarded as a talented book illustrator and often created works for other graphic and theatrical projects. This new book features 100 images along with an introduction to his art and Nash’s contribution to the cultural refinement of the modern world.

Original titles and a wide range of authors are synonymous with the Flame Tree Publishing brand.

“The aim… is to wipe the dust of everyday life from our souls” Pablo Picasso.

“Flame Tree Publishing has been sweeping the dust of everyday life away for over twenty years, creating illustrated books since 1992, art calendars since 1998, and illustrated e-books since 2009. Their extensive list includes powerful and eloquent artists such as Erté and Alphonse Mucha, complemented by extensive licenses in their award-winning line of calendars, with Tate, V&A, RSC, RA, and many others.”

Thanks to a wide range of authors, editors, and writers—from Vladimir Ashkenazy, Steve Hackett, John Howe, Sir George Martin, Brian May, Paul du Noyer, Paco Peña, Stanley Sadie—the company strives to create illustrated projects that are affordable, useful, and beautiful. In addition to printed titles, their exceptional selection of practical cookbooks, music books, pop culture, and lifestyle titles is increasingly available in digital formats. The publisher believes that well-reviewed, thoughtfully curated content should be available in many different formats to meet their readers’ needs.
