Description
Who among you enjoys the exceptional taste of Parmesan?
For the cheese, which originates from Italy, we recommend a knife straight from the Italian manufacturer - Saladini.
This company has gained experience through centuries of tradition. It is based in the Italian town of Scarperia. The literal meaning of this name is “knife city”. It is here that the talent related to knife craftsmanship has been dormant since ancient times. This craft was regarded as an ancient form of art.
Alongside a series of traditional knives, Saladini offers a wide range of kitchen knives, table accessories, cutlery, as well as corkscrews and cigar cutters. Each product is made with great care, paying attention to every detail.
The Saladini Cutlery manufactory produces kitchen knives with forged blades. Each blade bears an engraved manufacturer’s logo - a confirmation of authenticity, as well as a quality guarantee. The marking is done during the craft process, before the blade is hardened.
Saladini is very selective in choosing steel - mainly using high-quality hardened stainless steel with high or 100% carbon content.
For the production of blades, Saladini mainly uses two processes: quenching and forging.
Quenching is used to create knife blades, cigar closing blades, and certain lines of table knives. These blades are cut from steel sheets, the thickness of which depends on the intended use of the knife.
The most complex process involves forging blades by hammer and anvil, which are used for kitchen and table knives as well as collector’s items.
Hand forging allows for creating the proper shapes of blades, handles, and bolsters, which are then inserted into the handle.
After tempering, both types of blades undergo a hardening and annealing process in heat treatment, which, depending on the steel composition, determines the correct hardness for an optimal cutting edge.
The Italian company respects its heritage but also looks to the future – such an approach allows for continuous development.
It will surely make an incredible gift!
