The brand was founded in 1982 in California. It was created by climber Mike Graham, known as “Gramicci”. That’s where the company’s name comes from. As a sports enthusiast, he knew that among climbers, there was a lack of clothing providing maximum comfort on rocks and crags. So, he started sewing climbing pants for himself and his friends.

Although Gramicci was created for a new generation of climbers emerging in the 1970s, it quickly gained popularity among people who had never touched a rock. Why? Because these clothes were simply comfortable, durable, and honest in their design. In the 1990s, the brand gained significant recognition in Japan. The local street scene and travel enthusiasts loved its simple, functional clothing. And that’s the key: Gramicci didn’t change to enter the city. The city came to Gramicci.
