Description
An Italian company respects its heritage but also looks to the future – such an approach allows for continuous development.
Saladini's tradition dates back to the 15th century – when the first “Master Knifemakers” published its statutes. These included goals for protection and a plan for the manufacturing and trade process of knives. From that generation to today, producers follow in the footsteps of their ancestors, creating products with the same passion and tradition.
It is worth appreciating Italian craftsmanship – Saladini products are original and made from the highest quality materials.
Saladini produces kitchen knives with forged blades. Each product bears an engraved manufacturer logo, which serves as proof of authenticity and a quality guarantee. The marking is done during crafting, when the blade is not yet hardened.
Saladini is very selective in choosing steel – mainly using hardened stainless steel with high or 100% carbon content.
For manufacturing blades, Saladini uses two processes: rolling and forging.
The rolling method is used to create knife blades, cigar cutters, and certain lines of table knives. These blades are cut from steel sheets, whose thickness depends on the intended use of the knife.
The complex manufacturing process involves forging blades with a hammer and anvil, used for kitchen and table knives as well as collector’s items. Hand forging allows for creating the proper shapes of blades, shoulders, and bolsters, which are then inserted into the handle.
After heat treatment, both types of blades are hardened and annealed during thermal processing, which, depending on the steel composition, determines the proper level of hardness for an optimal cutting edge.
The company has gained experience through centuries of tradition. It is based in the Italian town of Scarperia. The literal meaning of this name is “knife city.” It is here that the talent related to knife craftsmanship has been dormant since ancient times. This craft was regarded as an ancient form of art.
To make the Italian culinary assortment even more special, Luxury Products offers you the possibility to engrave or emboss any text, dedication, or initials on the product.
