What is backgammon?

The original game called tryktrak in Polish was already famous in ancient times, especially in the Mediterranean basin, but also in the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia Minor.

Its English name (backgammon) was coined in the 17th century and likely derives from the medieval word "gamen," meaning "back game." This refers to the rules: returning your pieces home, as well as the possibility of hitting and starting over.

Today, tryktrak is a folk game of Georgians, Armenians, Arabs, and Turks, also known in Yugoslavia and Bulgaria.

Designed for two players, it will surely keep boredom at bay, not only on gloomy days!
