This second edition of the Les Paul guitar was introduced in 1954. Named Gibson Les Paul Custom, this entirely black guitar was a meticulously decorated work of art, called “Black Beauty”. It featured a mahogany top, a new Tune-o-matic bridge, and an Alnico-5 magnet on the neck. In 2007, Gibson released a new edition to celebrate the anniversary of this classic.
