Description

Drawings of clothing from the early 1900s. Ink and watercolor sketches on paper of costume models from the Liberty period. It comes from a collection of 15 drawings, some of which, like this one, are signed in the lower right corner.

The elegance of these incredible silhouettes is particularly noteworthy, brought to life by decisive and confident fashion designer traits, a true professional of the era. The drawing originates from a private Milanese residence and is in perfect condition. The sheet is unmounted and unframed.

In fashion design, new collections are presented as hand-drawn sketches before they are cut and sewn. The fashion designer first creates a figure, a feminine image that reproduces the shape of the wearer—a realistic-looking model, perhaps posed within a daily context, like these two figures engaged in conversation, a setting that serves to illustrate these exclusive dresses in detail.

These sophisticated designs in Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles, as well as very rare and collectible pieces, are perfect for studio decor. They reflect an elegant, affluent world full of perspectives and help recreate the fascinating transformations that took place in fashion during that era, where women's style—an expression of emancipation—adapted to more functional and sporty clothing.

Beautiful antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for interior decoration. Currently, there is a growing number of enthusiasts for high-quality vintage items that possess a specific character and soul. This is a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the creation of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its distinctive features.

There are many styles characteristic of antique furniture, but a few stand out as particularly important. Eclectic furniture dates back to the 19th century, during the reign of the Biedermeier style. Its early variations include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis Philippe style, and finally the English Victorian style. By the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

Empire-style furniture and accessories date from the late 18th to early 19th centuries, inspired by Napoleon’s reign. They feature significant similarities and references to Roman and Greek ornamentation.

Neoclassical furniture, associated with Louis XVI, also strongly references ancient architecture. Noteworthy are antique pieces in Rococo and Louis XV styles. The next is Baroque, whose name derives from the Portuguese 'barocco'—meaning an irregularly developed pearl. These were highly ornate, luxurious pieces designed to shine with splendor and play a significant role in opulence. Materials were chosen selectively to emphasize the grandeur of these items.

Today, we can observe how much the Baroque style influenced modern classical furniture, which is often designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. An important style is also Renaissance, which flourished in the 15th and 16th centuries and left a significant mark on furniture design. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and robust, using brown stains, moldings, sturdy bases, and reliefs. These products were quite distinctive but also opened new possibilities, such as the construction of cabinets and broadly speaking, chest furniture. Mythology and ancient times also inspired these designs, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.

Lion paws, eagle heads—these are common motifs in Renaissance-style furniture. Today, many global brands reproduce such furniture, drawing inspiration from Italian and French creators. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that each country perceived furniture production differently, so each style had its unique character. This is especially important when seeking elegant antiques suitable for your interior.

The most important aspect of stylish antique furniture is originality. And this is ultimately crucial from the buyer's perspective, as many counterfeits circulate on the market.
