Description

High Fashion Drawings Beginning 1900. Ink and watercolor sketches on paper of costume models from the Liberty era. Comes from a collection of 15 drawings, some of which are dated and signed.

The elegance of these incredible silhouettes is particularly noteworthy, conveyed through decisive and confident fashion designer traits, reflecting the professionalism of the era. The drawing originates from a private residence in Milan and is in perfect condition. The sheet is unmounted and unframed.

In fashion design, new projects are presented as handmade sketches before being cut and sewn. The fashion designer first creates a figure, a feminine image, which reproduces the shape of the wearer, a realistically looking model posing, perhaps placed in a contemporary context, specifically depicted next to a chair, holding a handbag, before moving away from the detailed illustration of these dresses with soft and elegant lines.

These sophisticated designs in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles, as well as very rare and collectible pieces, are perfect for studio decor, reflecting an elegant, affluent world full of perspectives and helping to recreate the fascinating transformations that took place in the costume of those times. During this period, women's fashion style, reflecting women's emancipation, adapted to more functional and sporty clothing.

Antique stylish furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for interior decoration. Currently, there is a growing number of enthusiasts for high-quality vintage items that have a distinct character and soul. This is a nod to history, creating and designing classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its own distinctive features.

Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few are particularly prominent. Eclectic furniture refers to the 19th century, dominated by the Biedermeier style. Its early 20th-century variants include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis Philippe style, and finally the Victorian style. Toward the end of the century, these styles evolve into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

Empire-style furniture and accessories date from the late 18th to early 19th century, originating from Napoleon’s reign. This style features significant similarities to Roman and Greek decorative motifs.

Neoclassical furniture, associated with Louis XVI, also strongly references ancient architecture. Noteworthy are antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles. The next is Baroque, whose name derives from the Portuguese 'barocco'—meaning an irregularly developed pearl. These were highly ornate pieces designed to radiate splendor and serve a role in luxury. Rarely used materials were selectively chosen to emphasize the grandeur of these items.

Today, we can observe how much influence the Baroque style has had on modern classical furniture, which is designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. The Renaissance style, flourishing in the 15th and 16th centuries, also left a significant mark on furniture craftsmanship. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and massive, using brown stains, moldings, sturdy bases, and reliefs. These products were quite distinctive but also introduced new possibilities, such as the construction of sideboards and broadly defined chest furniture. Mythology and ancient times also inspired these designs, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.

Lion paws, eagle heads—these are common motifs in Renaissance-style furniture. Currently, many global brands reproduce such furniture, inspired by Italian and French creators. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, giving each style a unique character. This is especially important when seeking elegant antiques suitable for your interior.

The most important aspect of stylish antique furniture is originality. And this is ultimately crucial from the buyer's perspective, as many counterfeits circulate on the market.
