The Hermle family business has its roots in Gosheim in the Swabian Jura. Its headquarters are located in nearby Reichenbach. This region was once a center of German clockmaking industry and is still known for its spirit of innovation and hard work.

The Hermle skeleton clock with astronomical indications, driven by a quartz movement, features an upper astrolabe displaying hours and minutes. The Sun, Moon, and Earth are moved by gear trains visible at the top during their daily, monthly (Moon around Earth), and annual (Earth around Sun) rotations in a realistic time sequence. The date and month positions are shown as zodiac signs on the upper level of the display, on a decorative scale placed on the horizontal clock plate.

The clock shows the Earth's orbit around the Sun once a year, with the Earth rotating on its axis once every 24 hours. At the same time, the Moon orbits the Earth once every 29 and a half days, rotating once on its own axis so that different phases of the Moon can be seen from Earth. The Earth passes through 12 zodiac signs, months, and days, which can be read on the flat, cylindrical dial. The time sequences are displayed identically, but not in geometric dimensions.

Glass bell: The crystal bell is mouth-blown, following traditional craftsmanship. Due to this manual production method, minor irregularities and flaws are inevitable and characteristic.
