The second edition of the Les Paul guitar was introduced in 1954. Known as the Gibson Les Paul Custom, this entirely black guitar was a meticulously crafted work of art, called the “Black Beauty”. It featured a mahogany top, a new Tune-o-matic bridge, and Alnico-5 magnets in the neck position. In 2007, Gibson released a new edition to celebrate the anniversary of this classic.
