German Watches - Luxury Products Store
The Dugena manufactory was founded in 1917 in Eisenach as a branch of the Swiss brand Alpina. The name is an abbreviation of "Deutsche Uhrenmacher-Genossenschaft Alpina" (German watchmakers' association Alpina) and soon became a brand in its own right.
In 1927, Dugena factories moved to Berlin and produced watches until 1930. In the immediate post-war period, the company was on the verge of liquidation. At that time, Dugena's headquarters were in the eastern part of Berlin, which was occupied by the USSR.
Selling watches to the West proved very difficult, so in 1948, the brand's headquarters were moved to Darmstadt. Subsequently, Dugena benefited from the German economic miracle.
In the 1960s and 1970s, a breakthrough occurred and Dugena successfully overcame the quartz revolution.
German solidity and quality proved to be a bullseye, which is why the brand successfully sold its products throughout Germany, with 2000 stores.
In mid-2009, the newly established "Nova Tempora Uhren und Schmuck GmbH" took over the business. Soon, Dugena will be restored as an independent German brand.
