With the arrival of the Chinese New Year, Caran d’Ache presents its latest creation, “Year of the Snake,” which is an ideal combination of ancient Chinese lacquer application techniques and specialized knowledge in creating exclusive limited editions.

Intelligence comes from knowledge and beauty, accompanied by mystery. The snake holds a key position in Chinese astrology and culture. This mythical creature symbolizes the rise of Yang energy and takes control over the writing instrument. The fountain pen and rollerball pen have yielded to this grip, allowing them to be tightly wrapped around their bodies.

The contrast of colors and materials is deliberate. The gilding that forms the snake’s body shines with a golden hue, and its glow is enhanced by the dark, intense Chinese lacquer. These are especially valuable because very few people outside China possess the knowledge of lacquer application. The pen’s body is a true masterpiece thanks to the lacquer, which is applied in multiple layers. This requires great patience and time, and after drying, the lacquer is manually polished to create a mesmerizing shine.

The snake is carefully engraved on the body with great precision and attention to detail. The result is an impression of the natural movement of a golden snake on the black pen body.
