Fortis is a watch brand established in 1912 in Grenchen, Switzerland. From its early years, Fortis has been renowned for its Swiss precision and technical mastery. This has led to its involvement in space missions and aviation flights — including record-breaking ones.
Fortis gained fame as the first company in the world to produce "wristwatches". It is also known for its official support of pilots and astronauts. Fortis watches are part of the official equipment for space missions.
1937 - Fortis releases its first chronograph.
1943 - Fortis introduces the first "hermetically sealed automatic watch", now widely known as a waterproof watch.
1954 - Fortis manufactures and sells alarm watches worldwide.
