The origins of Pelikan date back to chemist Carl Hornemann, who on April 28, 1838, presented his clients with an offer for oil paints, watercolors, and the so-called Pelikan archive – the foundation of the company's production line, from which the well-known global brand developed. The German manufacturer specializes in producing exclusive writing instruments.
The body in black and red stripes is made from cellulose acetate through a complex process. The rings and clip are finished with 24-karat gold. The piston fountain pen equivalent is a matching ballpoint pen with a twist mechanism available in the assortment. Each Souverän Black-Red is crafted with the utmost precision, assembled by hand, and thoroughly inspected.
Decades of experience, specially trained staff, and the highest attention to detail at every stage of the manufacturing process ensure that each product is solidly made and unique. Depending on the model, the nibs are made from 14 or 18-karat gold. They are also sometimes rhodium-plated to achieve a silver shine. The decoration on the nib is typical for each model.
