Description

When Fado is sung, the world hears about passions and broken hearts in life. Fado is a musical genre that can be traced back to 1820 in Lisbon, Portugal, but it likely has much earlier origins.

It is the soul of the Portuguese, translated onto the Portuguese guitar through an image that expresses Portuguese reality. Painted by José Vital Branco Malhoa, known simply as José Malhoa in 1910, it conveys feelings from taverns to songs telling stories in melancholic verses known as Fado, which inspired this guitar.

The Malabar brand was founded in 2012, with the introduction of a wide range of decorative Fado guitars and a collection of stylish World Architects furniture. It has designed and released a total of 5 exceptional furniture and accessory series.

Malabar has left its mark at major international fairs such as 100% Design London, Maison & Objet, Decorex, Stockholm Furniture Fair, and Seoul International. These are among the top venues for showcasing.

Malabar's design originates from the Porto region in northern Portugal, an area with a long and strong tradition of handcrafted products.

The identity of this luxury brand is based on the national architectural and artistic heritage of the past five centuries.

International experience and a pursuit of perfection are the details that define such original companies. Emotions, handcrafted quality, and space-inspired design create an explosive mix of elegant furniture.

The various techniques used in producing goods from natural wood yield incredible effects, as seen in Malabar's exceptional collections. An important aspect of the design is the combination of neutral and black colors.

Vivid and striking colors dominate, significantly diverging from classic and stereotypical furniture.

Besides wood, the manufacturer uses brass, gold and silver leaf, as well as other high-quality raw materials.

The Portuguese soul is very colorful and fascinating, clearly reflected in bold furniture designs.

The company's name itself derives from Malabar black pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history with the discovery of the Cape. The value of original spices prompted Portuguese merchants to chart a daring sea route.

This remains true today, as Malabar continues to set very individual boundaries in design and evokes strong emotions with its projects. They are very liberated, seductive, bold, and extremely exclusive.

And these are the products we love and bring to the My Luxury Products platform.

What raw materials does Malabar use in its production?

The brand employs the most exclusive types of wood, including: ebony, walnut, American walnut, oak, ironwood, elm, basswood, olive wood, bird's eye, mottled, poplar, satinwood, and ash.

Malabar also uses ancient lacquer techniques. First, copper, gold, silver, pink, and tiger-colored leaf are applied, then lacquered.

Types of glass used by the manufacturer: dark glass, smoked, gold, antique, and antique brown.

The marble varieties are diverse, including: Sahara, grey Kenzo, Nero Marquina, Portoro, Gris Douro, black gold, Guatemala Verde, tiger skin, Ochiro, Calacatta Vagli, Estremoz, Carrara gold, Carrara, white Extremez, and travertine.

Specifically, chrome, nickel-plated black brass, polished brass, gilded brass, polished copper, antique brass, silver brass, brushed brass, polished brass, and hammered polished copper.

We would be happy to arrange a meeting and present all available materials about the Malabar brand. Our Luxury Products team will advise and select the most suitable furnishings and accessories for your interiors.
