The history of MBM Biliardi begins in 1969, when the holding owner, Cav. Mariano Maggio, was only 23 years old. After about two years of experience in the billiard industry as a salesperson in the Lazio region for the company “Mari biliardi” based in Siena, he decided to start his own billiard business and opened his first small workshop, which was to become the largest billiard factory in Italy. “The first workshop was terrible...” recalls the owner. It was only four square meters, and the only equipment was a Black & Decker and a table made from wood waste from packaging, while the workforce consisted only of a wood finisher... who was often absent.

A few years later, from this small entity, he opened a larger space of 150 sqm. Here, the first machines were used, and the focus was on improving the already completed billiard tables. Soon after, the factory was moved to the Mandrione area in Rome, on a 400-square-meter site, where production of new elegant billiard tables began. Now, Cav. Maggio, together with a Milanese graphic studio and a group of lawyers and architects, developed the prestigious factory brand: MBM Biliardi (Mariano Maggio Biliardi).

The entire MBM Billiardi factory project is located in a special area near Rome, close to the “Autostrada del Sole” motorway, between the Anagni and Colleferro exits. It is the result of comprehensive research on selecting the most efficient machines, many of which were designed and developed independently by MBM Biliardi. Only numerically controlled machines, capable of assembly and guaranteeing high-quality components, ensure the success of an exceptional product worthy of MBM Biliardi. The factory was inaugurated in 1995, coinciding with the start of the World Billiard Championships in Italy, in Fiuggi, which marked the beginning of a tradition of extensive experience for MBM. That is why only this approach to table production yields the best results in terms of extraordinary precision. And as we know, this is crucial in this game, because any distortions are undesirable, especially on the playing surface.

Today, the factory remains the most popular company in the hi-tech industry, equipped with precise CNC machines, which, combined with careful raw material selection and meticulous product testing, ensure the highest quality and reliability of luxury billiard tables. The MBM factory has been visited by world-renowned billiard champions who appreciated the values and quality guaranteed by the company. That’s why MBM’s slogan is: “A billiard table cannot be bought randomly! Only MBM Billiardi guarantees craftsmanship and technology.” Naturally, made in Italy.

What is MBM Billiardi’s advantage?

Their machine – the only one in the world – can produce an absolutely perfect rectangular billiard table. Thanks to electronic systems, it can achieve an ideal playing surface. Designed by MBM Billiardi engineers, the only company capable of such work, this machine combines the core of the billiard table, the slate, and the frame, performing two fundamental operations, transforming a simple wooden board into a highly precise billiard table. The first operation is rectification and refinement of the slate to prevent ball friction. The second operation is aligning the billiard table to a perfect square, achieved with a diamond tip that rotates around its perimeter, simultaneously milling the slate and the frame to perfection.

This machine sequentially checks all elements of the billiard table and rejects those that are not up to standard. This system guarantees a complex mechanism of suction and seals, which only allows good components according to standard procedures and rejects unsuitable ones. The machine can accurately inspect elements over three meters long. This is the essence of holistic precision, providing the advantage of an impeccably flat surface.
