The Balp Manufacture was established in 1830, inspired by the most beautiful French weapon forges. Its reputation and highest production quality spread throughout France and beyond its borders. Subsequent generations wanted to uphold the tradition and know-how.
Therefore, we have the pleasure and honor to present to you the company BALP, which remains a benchmark of quality. Their team, with experience stemming from 4 generations of forging tradition, guarantees true expertise in their products. The development of the BALP brand is also part of a changing world, where the know-how of various countries has been combined to offer ceremonial equipment meeting the needs of major armies.
The development of all sabers and swords is based on original models. The manufacture aims to stand out by returning to traditions consistent with works from the era. Therefore, they want to present sabers and swords worthy of history.
All BALP sabers, swords, and daggers are hand-forged, in accordance with traditional knowledge passed down from generation to generation. A guarantee of quality, reinforced by the passion of highly skilled master forgers.
The manufacture supplies models to the national navy, ministries of defense, ministries of internal affairs, as well as to officers of major military schools, such as the National Gendarmerie Officers School, the Coëtquidan schools (Saint Cyr, EMIA...), but also schools, ministries, regiments, and military centers in many countries.

Unlike carbon steel, stainless steel does not require surface treatment to protect against oxidation. All our blades are traditionally forged and hardened. The use of sabers and swords as parade weapons no longer justifies the use of carbon steels, which shorten the life of the blades. 24K Gold Plating: Gold plating is considered the best finish available and provides additional added value. Gold plating is a durable and non-corrosive finish, therefore it protects very well against oxidation. We use electrolytic baths, which allow us to obtain 24-carat gold plating (approximately 99.3 to 99.7% gold). Gold plating is also very resistant to fading over time. |
