The Barbini family is one of the medieval glassmaking dynasties that established their presence on the island of Murano as early as the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, during the Venetian Republic, on the orders of the Council of Ten (Consiglio dei Dieci), the Barbini family was recorded in the Golden Book of Murano Society’s Notables, known as the register of the most distinguished glassmakers in Venice.
Additionally, the family was granted a coat of arms – featuring two bearded wise men looking at each other with a star above their heads on a blue background – which can still be admired at the Murano Glass Museum on the island of Murano.
