The body of the camels reaches up to 3 meters in length. Their necks are long and arched; heads are elongated with a prominent forehead; ears are small and rounded. Females have one pair of udders.
What distinguishes them from other members of the family is the presence of a characteristic hump or humps on the back, which serve as storage for fat reserves. A camel can store up to 45 kg of fat in this hump, which is related to their second characteristic trait – their resistance to prolonged water deprivation.
