 The history of MBM Biliardi begins in 1969, when the holding owner, Cav. Mariano Maggio, was only 23 years old. After about two years of experience in the billiard industry as a salesperson in the Lazio region for the company “Mari biliardi” based in Siena, he decided to start his own billiard business and opened his first small workshop, which was intended to become the largest billiard factory in Italy. “The first workshop was terrible...” recalls the owner. It was only four square meters, and the only equipment was a Black & Decker and a table made from wood waste from packaging, while the workforce consisted solely of a wood finisher... who was often absent.

From this small entity, a few years later, he opened a larger space of 150 sqm. Here, the first machines were used, and the focus was on improving the quality of the already produced billiards. Soon after, the factory was moved to the Mandrione area in Rome, on a 400-square-meter site, where the production of new stylish billiard tables began. Now, Cav. Maggio, together with a Milanese graphic studio and a group of lawyers and architects, developed the prestigious factory logo: MBM Biliardi (meaning Mariano Maggio Biliardi).

The entire MBM Billiardi factory project is located in a special area near Rome, close to the “Autostrada del Sole” motorway, between the Anagni and Colleferro exits. It is the result of comprehensive research on selecting the most efficient machines, many of which were designed and developed independently by MBM Biliardi. Only numerically controlled machines, capable of assembly and ensuring high-quality components, guarantee the success of this exceptional product worthy of MBM Biliardi. The factory was inaugurated in 1995, coinciding with the start of the World Billiard Championships in Italy, in Fiuggi, which marked the beginning of a tradition of extensive experience for MBM. That is why only this approach to manufacturing tables yields the best results in terms of incredible precision. As we know, this is crucial in this game, because any distortions are undesirable, especially on the surface of the product.

Today, the factory remains the most popular company in the hi-tech industry, equipped with precise CNC machines, which, combined with careful raw material selection and meticulous product testing, ensure the highest level of quality and reliability for luxury billiard tables. Their machine – the only one in the world – can make a billiard table perfectly rectangular. Thanks to electronic systems, it can achieve an ideal playing surface. Designed by MBM Billiardi engineers, the only company in the world capable of performing such work, this machine combines the core of the billiard table, slate, and frame, performing two basic operations, transforming a simple wooden board into a highly precise billiard. The first operation is rectification and refinement of the slate to prevent ball friction. The second operation is aligning the billiard table into a square, achieved with a diamond tip that rotates around its perimeter, simultaneously milling the slate and the frame to perfection.

This machine sequentially checks all elements of the billiard table and rejects those that are not up to standard. This system guarantees a complex mechanism of suction and seals, which only allows good components according to standard processes and rejects unsuitable parts. The machine can accurately inspect elements over three meters long. This is the holistic precision that provides an advantage in the form of an perfectly flat surface.
