ARTIST. Vincent van Gogh sought refuge in Paris in February 1888. He set out for Arles to satisfy his desire to experience the colors of the South. Initially, he stayed in a local hotel but soon rented the famous Yellow House on Place Lamartine, located between the railway tracks and the river in the northern part of the town. This famous painting depicts his bedroom in the house.
