Turandot is an unfinished opera by Giacomo Puccini. The libretto was written by Giuseppe Adami and Renato Simoni based on the play Turandot by Carlo Gozzi. Turandot tells the story of a Chinese princess who decides never to marry. To avoid marriage, she poses three extremely difficult riddles to her suitors, and failure to answer correctly results in the death penalty. The play was completed after Puccini's death by Franco Alfano. The premiere took place on April 25, 1926, in Milan.
