Description

The Hood Desk is inspired by the iconic skyscraper located in New York City – the American Radiator Building. This black and gold building was constructed in the 1920s by the renowned architect Raymond Hood.

The modern Hood desk features a black lacquered wooden structure, perfectly finished with a high-gloss lacquer, providing a workspace – as well as a front for the drawers – smoothly upholstered with genuine leather, transforming any living room into a stylish interior. The drawer interiors are lined with luxurious black velvet.

Refined black structure is complemented by elegant and dazzling polished brass legs, whose shape introduces the charm of the Art Deco era into your personal space. The Hood Desk is part of the World Architects collection.

Malabar manufactory was established in 2012, alongside the launch of a wide range of decorative Fado guitars and the elegant World Architects furniture collection. It has designed and released a total of 5 exceptional furniture and accessory collections.

Malabar has made its mark at the most prestigious international fairs, such as 100% Design London, Maison & Objet, Decorex, Stockholm Furniture Fair, and Seoul International. These are among the top venues for showcasing design.

Malabar’s design originates from Porto, in northern Portugal, a region with a long and strong tradition of handcrafted products.

The identity of this luxury brand is rooted in the national architectural and artistic heritage of the past five centuries.

International experience and a pursuit of perfection are the details that define such original companies. Emotions, handcrafted craftsmanship, and space-inspired design create an explosive mix of elegant furniture.

The various techniques used in creating products from natural wood produce incredible effects, as seen in Malabar’s exceptional collections. An important aspect of their design is the combination of neutral and black colors.

Vivid and striking hues dominate, significantly deviating from traditional and stereotypical furniture.

In addition to wood, the manufactory uses brass, gold and silver leaf, as well as other high-quality raw materials.

The Portuguese soul is very colorful and fascinating, clearly reflected in their bold furniture designs.

The company’s name derives from Malabar black pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history with the discovery of the Cape. The rarity of original spices prompted Portuguese merchants to chart a daring sea route.

This remains true today, as Malabar continues to set highly individual boundaries in design and evokes strong emotions with its projects. Their creations are very liberated, seductive, bold, and extremely luxurious.

And these are exactly the kinds of products we love and introduce on the My Luxury Products platform.

What raw materials does Malabar use?

The brand employs the most refined types of wood, including: ebony, walnut, American walnut, oak, ironwood, ash, basswood, olive wood, bird’s eye, irregular grain, poplar, satinwood, and ash.

Malabar also uses ancient lacquer techniques. First, copper, gold, silver, pink, and tiger’s eye leaf are applied, then lacquered.

The types of glass used by the manufacturer include: dark glass, smoked, gold, antique, and antique brown.

The marble varieties are diverse, including: Sahara, grey Kenzo, Nero Marquina, Portoro, Gris Douro, Black Gold, Guatemala Verde, tiger skin leather, Ochiro, Calacatta Vagli, Estremoz, Carrara gold, Carrara, White Extremez, and travertine.

Metals are selected based on efficiency and quality. High-quality premium metals such as copper, stainless steel, and galvanized steel are used. Specifically: chrome, nickel-plated black brass, polished brass, gold-plated brass, polished copper, antique brass, silver brass, brushed brass, polished brushed brass, brass, and hammered polished copper.

We would be happy to arrange a meeting and present all available materials about the Malabar brand. Our Luxury Products team will advise and select the most suitable furnishings and accessories for your interiors.
